At least 15 people, including 12 soldiers, two policemen, and a Government official, were killed after militants carried out a suicide-style attack on a security check-post in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the Pakistan Military, the attackers rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the perimeter-wall of the security-post in Tank district, causing extensive damage, before launching an assault.
Security forces killed 12 militants in the retaliatory operation. While no group has claimed responsibility, the attack comes amid a surge in violence blamed on the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
Pakistan has repeatedly accused Afghanistan-based militants of carrying out such attacks, allegations denied by the Taliban Government.
