Japan Issues Fresh Heatwave Warning

A severe heatwave has gripped western Japan, with tourists struggling to find relief as the country faces extreme temperatures.

The Japanese government has issued fresh warnings over the intense heat. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, temperatures climbed to 39.7 degrees Celsius on Thursday afternoon, marking another officially designated “kokushobi”, or “brutally hot day.”

According to the latest data from the Fire and Disaster Management Agency, more than 4,000 people were hospitalised during mid-July due to the heatwave, while seven people later died.
