Deadly flooding has struck southern Ecuador after the Cantzama River overflowed its banks, leaving at least five people dead.
The flooding hit the town of Guadalupe near the Peruvian border, where surging river waters swept away homes and vegetation, causing widespread destruction as authorities continue to assess the damage.
In an operation 48 people rescued as they were trapped in river islets and rooftops. Last several days due to heavy rain the situation of flooding arose.
