Extreme weather disrupted America’s 250th Independence Day celebrations across several parts of the country.

Visitors at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., were asked to evacuate as thunderstorms approached the area. The National Park Service urged people to seek shelter and follow instructions from emergency personnel.

President Donald Trump was scheduled to address a rally marking the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Meanwhile, temperatures soaring above 38 degrees Celsius disrupted celebrations in several regions.

The prolonged heatwave also led to a spike in emergency calls in New York suburbs, with authorities warning of a heightened risk of heat stroke.
