Europe is currently experiencing a severe heatwave. In Northeastern Spain, firefighters battled a wildfire as flames spread through the La Bisbal d’Empordà area.
The blaze prompted authorities to confine residents in several municipalities and close several roads while emergency crews worked to contain the fire. The wildfire has burned about 750 hectares.
Meanwhile, Residents of central Portugal battled flames threatening homes as a large wildfire continued to burn near the municipality of Vouzela on Friday.
Authorities said six people suffered minor injuries and estimated that more than 2,400 hectares of forest had already burned in the Viseu district. Nearly 1,000 firefighters were deployed to battle the blaze.
