Nagaland got its first Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Aadhaar Seva Kendra yesterday. Advisor for Tribal Affairs and Election, H. Tovihoto Ayemi inaugurated the facility at Purana Bazaar in Dimapur.
Speaking on the occasion, Ayemi described the inauguration as a major milestone for the State, and urged people to make full use of the facility.
He highlighted the importance of Aadhaar in ensuring uninterrupted access to education and other government services.
Deputy Director General of UIDAI Regional Office, Guwahati, Ngachan Zimik, called for achieving universal Aadhaar enrolment in Nagaland and urged parents to complete the mandatory biometric updates of children.
He informed that the biometric update service will remain free of cost until September 30.
The Aadhaar Seva Kendra has the capacity to process up to 250 enrolment and update requests daily.
The centre will remain open all days of the week except on public holidays.
