In Pakistan, three paramilitary personnel were killed in an attack on the local headquarters of the Pakistan Sindh Rangers in Karachi on Saturday.
Police said the terrorists rammed a vehicle into the main gate of the headquarters. They added that it could not immediately be confirmed whether a blast had also occurred.
An operation is underway, and the area has been sealed off by Special Security Unit commandos, Anti-Terrorist Force personnel, and Rangers personnel.
Earlier, law enforcement agencies rushed to the site after reports of heavy firing and an explosion in the area.
According to media reports, an affiliate of Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a splinter armed group of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the attack. The group confirms nine attackers took part in the assault.
