The encounter took place on the night of June 21, 2026, on the Sarsawa-Nakur Road.

According to the police, the criminal, who had been absconding for a long time, was finally eliminated during this operation.
Lalan Singh hailed from Anandgolwa village in Bihar’s Samastipur district and was involved in numerous serious criminal cases.

A reward of ₹1 lakh had been announced by the Varanasi Police Commissioner and ₹25,000 by the Chandauli Superintendent of Police for his capture.

It is reported that Lalan Singh, along with his gang and brothers, had executed several heinous crimes. His gang is accused of seven murders, including the killings of two Sub-Inspectors, a bank cashier, and a security guard.

Additionally, his name had surfaced in connection with incidents such as bank robberies, cash-van heists, and the looting of government weapons.

According to the police, a team led by Additional SP Lal Pratap Singh received information regarding his location. In the ensuing encounter, Lalan Singh sustained critical gunshot injuries.

He was first taken to the Community Health Center in Sarsawa and subsequently referred to the District Hospital in Saharanpur, where doctors declared him dead. An accomplice managed to flee the scene during the encounter, and the police are actively searching for him.
