The Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma remarked that cleanliness and hygienic sense of the Mizo people as a whole has enhanced the reputation of both Mizoram and its people, and urged citizens of the state to continue prioritising these values.
Speaking at the function to mark the donation of a Garbage Tipper to the Joint Young Mizo Association (YMA) of Thenzawl town in central Mizoram’s Serchhip district by the Formosa Foundation in support of efforts to maintain cleanliness and improve waste management in the town the Chief Minister said that one of the most common compliments received from visitors to Mizoram is the State’s cleanliness and well-maintained environment.
Lalduhoma noted that Thenzawl has emerged as one of Mizoram’s most prominent tourist destinations and is increasingly attracting visitors from across the country.
Given its growing popularity and scenic appeal, he stressed the importance of maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the town.
He stated that the donation of the Garbage Tipper by the Formosa Foundation would further strengthen local efforts to keep Thenzawl clean and attractive.
He also expressed gratitude to the Formosa Foundation for its continued contributions to the development and welfare of Mizoram.
Speaking on the occasion, the ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) legislator Baryl Vanneihsangi said that cleanliness contributes not only to public health but also to the attractiveness of a place.
As Thenzawl receives a large number of travellers and tourists, she emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean environment that can serve as a model for other towns and communities.
She further underlined the importance of proper waste management in achieving this objective.
