Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw held a high-level review meeting with senior officials of Indian Railways on the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) recruitment process.

During the meeting yesterday, Vaishnaw emphasized the need for a more transparent, accurate and technology-driven system.

He also reviewed the progress made in shifting departmental examinations to Computer-Based Test mode and said that more tablet-based examinations should be introduced to make recruitment faster, more efficient and user-friendly.

During the meeting, Vaishnaw noted that the annual recruitment calendar, coupled with quarterly notifications of vacancies, has been well received by candidates.

He said that the calendar-based recruitment framework has enabled aspirants to plan their preparation more effectively.

Emphasizing the need for continuous improvement, Vaishnaw stated that the Railway recruitment system must keep evolving through the use of technology, faster processes and greater accountability.

The minister also directed RRB to strengthen communication with candidates and stakeholders. He said that misinformation must be countered promptly with correct information.

Railways Ministry, in a statement, shared that Indian Railways has recruited over 43 thousand candidates in Fiscal Year 2025-26 through completed recruitment cycles covering over 47 thousand vacancies across six major categories.
