Assam Cabinet approves hike in DA, DR to 60% and increase of MLALAD allocation

Assam Cabinet has approved the increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) for serving State Government employees and pensioners from the existing 58% to 60%. The decision was taken during the state cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in Guwahati yesterday.

The State Cabinet also has approved the proposal for the declaration of the Second State Capital Region Area, Dibrugarh, and the constitution of the Second State Capital Region Development Authority, Dibrugarh. The region will cover an area comprising a 20 km radius of the Dibrugarh Capital Complex within Dibrugarh District.

In another important decision, the Cabinet approved the enhancement of the MLA Local Area Development (MLALAD) allocation from ₹1 crore to ₹1.5 crore per MLA for the financial year 2026-27.

The allocation will be further increased to ₹2 crore per MLA from the financial year 2027-28 onwards.
