Today is the 75th anniversary of the restoration of Somnath Temple. On the occasion ‘Somnath Swamiman Parva’ was celebrated in a spiritual atmosphere at the shrine of Lord Lingaraj in Ekamra Kshetra.
Chief Minister of Odisha, Mohan Charan Majhi, attended the event as the chief guest. He highlighted the unique and deep connection between Somnath and Lingaraj and said that if Somnath is the western guard of India, then Lingaraj is the unbroken power of the past.
A special atmosphere was created at Ekamra Peeth today when Chief Minister Majhi watched the live telecast of the grand ceremony led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from the Somnath Temple in Prabhas Patan, Gujarat.
As the Chairman of the Shri Somnath Temple Trust from Gujarat, the Chief Minister watched the Prime Minister’s speech and puja ceremony with the devotees and shared that moment with the devotees of the Lingaraj Peeth.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister emphasized on the protection of Indian culture and the development of Shaivite temples and recalled the turbulent history of Lord Somnath and said that the restoration of Somnath Temple was the beginning of the restoration of Indian civilization by the Iron Man Sardar Patel, and today, under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India’s cultural renaissance is taking place.
Turning the pages of history, he pointed out that although the invaders repeatedly tried to destroy the temple and bury the soul of India, it has been reborn every time due to the faith flowing in the blood of Sanatani.
Recalling the historic event of 1951, the Chief Minister said that the reconstruction of Somnath Temple was possible only due to the strong determination of the Iron Man Sardar Patel.
On the development issue of Odisha, the Chief Minister clarified that his government is committed to strengthening the cultural and spiritual infrastructure of the state.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Vikash Bhi, Veerasat Bhi’ policy, the Odisha government will develop the Ekamra sector with an investment of Rs 330 crore and establish Odisha as the cultural capital of India with projects like the Shri Jagannath Museum at a cost of Rs 1000 crore, he announced.
In addition, the main goal of his government is to create employment for the local people through tourism by promoting the ‘Orange Economy’ or culture-based economy.
Finally, he called upon four and a half crore Odias to build a ‘Prosperous Odisha’ and ‘Developed India’ by following the courage of Sardar Patel and the vision of the Prime Minister.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister and Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management Suresh Pujari joined and shed light on the cultural renaissance of India and the majesty of Shaivitees and said that when India’s self-respect was in danger, Somnath Temple stood like a beacon of light. History and self-confidence are hidden in every stone of our land.
The program was also attended by Lok Sabha MP, Aparajita Sadangi, MLA Babu Singh, Culture Secretary Dr. Vijay Ketan Upadhyay and Khurda District Magistrate Amrit Turaj.
