MV Hondius: 2 Indian Crew Members Safe as Dutch Vessel Arrives in Spain

A Dutch-flagged vessel, MV Hondius, carrying around 150 individuals, including two Indian nationals, arrived in Spain today amid a hantavirus outbreak situation.

The ship had anchored off the coast of the Canary Islands, Spain, as a precautionary measure. Passengers onboard disembarked in accordance with the protocols established by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Spanish authorities.

According to official information, the two Indian nationals on board, who were serving as crew members, are healthy and asymptomatic.

The Spanish National Centre for Emergency Monitoring and Coordination (CENEM) informed that both Indian nationals have been evacuated to the Netherlands. They will undergo quarantine in line with the relevant health and safety protocols.
