Russian Government said its air defences shot down 32 drones heading toward Moscow as the country prepares for its May 9 Victory Day commemorations. The Kremlin said additional security measures are being put in place for Russian President Vladimir Putin amid heightened security concerns.
Meanwhile, two drones entered NATO member Latvia from Russian territory and crashed, while four empty oil tanks were reported damaged. Russia’s defence ministry had earlier warned that if Ukraine carried out any strike during the Victory Day celebrations, Moscow would respond with a large missile strike on central Kyiv.
A Russian drone strike also damaged homes and set a kiosk and a car ablaze in Kharkiv, close to the Russian border. Emergency crews rushed to the scene, battling flames from the burning kiosk.
