Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami yeaterday participated in the “Silver Jubilee Celebration” held at the Chief Minister’s residence on the occasion of the completion of 25 years of the Uttarakhand Forest Development Corporation.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the opening of a Forest Development Corporation office in the Kumaon division as well. Furthermore, he issued directives to present a proposal to the Cabinet regarding the installation of bee-boxes in forest areas to further promote beekeeping.
While launching the “Himkasht” mobile application on this occasion, the Chief Minister stated that the app would facilitate the sale of timber by the Forest Development Corporation. Additionally, it would enable the online auction of forest produce.
He remarked that the Corporation’s modern e-auction system and other online processes have served to strengthen the “Ease of Doing Business” environment in this sector.
The Chief Minister stated that the Forest Development Corporation is crucial not only for the state’s economy but also for its ecology. The Corporation undertakes the scientific management of forests, the sustainable harvesting of forest produce, mining operations within reserved forest areas, and the management of eco-tourism activities; additionally, it supplies forest products and certified timber to the government.
He further remarked that the Forest Development Corporation is not confined merely to economic activities; rather, it also plays a supportive role in developing new forest areas by removing dried-up, dying, and uprooted trees from existing forest regions.
