Nagaland Education Department has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation for implementation of the Vidyadhan Scholarship Programme.

The MoU was signed today in Kohima by Director of School Education, Razouseyi Vese, and Principal Consultant of the Sarojini Damodaran Foundation, Pankaj Tripati, in the presence of Advisor for School Education, Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, Chief Secretary Sentiyanger Imchen, Commissioner & Secretary Kevileno Angami, along with other officials.

The agreement is for a period of five years from May 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031, extendable upon mutual consent.

Under the MoU, the scholarship will be reserved for indigenous students of Nagaland who have passed Class 10 from government schools.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor Kekhrielhoulie Yhome expressed happiness over the collaboration and said it comes at an opportune time for students from government schools who have passed their matriculation this year to apply for the scholarship.

He noted that the scholarship is exclusively meant for students from government schools belonging to low-income groups. He expressed hope that such initiatives would uplift the community.

The Advisor further said that, under the guidance of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the government is adopting an open-ended approach to building state capabilities, adding that the government understands its role in providing welfare as well as quality education for children.

Principal Consultant Pankaj Tripati said that since its inception in 1999, the programme has awarded over 78,000 scholarships across India. He informed that 100 students will be selected every year for Classes 11 and 12, and it will continue at the degree level based on merit.

The scholarship amount is 10,000 rupees per year for Classes 11 and 12.

Degree-level scholarships will range from 25,000 to 75,000 rupees per year depending on the course.
