In Bangladesh, the recovery of a Hindu temple caretaker’s body in Cox’s Bazar has sparked protests and raised concerns over the safety of minority communities. State police said that the exact cause of death remains unclear. The body of Nayan Das, also known as Nayan Sadhu, was found in a forested hill area of Khurushkul on 22 April, three days after he went missing, with authorities yet to determine whether it was a case of suicide or murder.

Family members have alleged foul play, claiming he was called out of his home by two unidentified persons on the night of 19th of April and never returned.

Police have sent the body for autopsy and launched an investigation, while rights groups have criticised delays and lack of clarity in such cases.

The incident has also triggered protests in Dhaka, with demonstrators demanding swift justice and stronger legal safeguards for minority communities.
