10 killed, several injured after road accident in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu

In Tamil Nadu, ten people were killed, and several others were injured after a tourist van, while negotiating the mountain road, rolled down the hill in Coimbatore district.

The accident occurred near the 9th hairpin bend on the Valparai ghat road. The injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment. 16 people from Kerala were in the van when the incident took place.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled over the incident. On ‘X’ he wrote:  “Distressed to hear about the mishap in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. I extend my heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the mishap. Prayers for the speedy recovery of those injured”
