Continued fighting between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah is testing a fragile truce reached between the United States and Iran.

Air raid alerts rang out across Israel early Friday, including in Tel Aviv and the southern coastal city of Ashdod, following rocket fire from Lebanon. There were no immediate reports of casualties.

Hezbollah said it had launched three waves of rocket and drone strikes in the early hours against Israeli soldiers on both sides of the border as well as a town in northern Israel.

Meanwhile, Israel and Lebanon are set to hold talks in Washington next week.

The announcement came as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his ministers to seek direct talks with Lebanon focused on disarming Hezbollah.

Hezbollah chief Naim Qassem called on the Lebanese government to stop giving “free concessions” to Israel, ahead of the scheduled negotiations.
