RSP Leader Dol Prasad Aryal Elected Speaker Of Nepal Parliament

In Nepal, Leader of the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Dol Prasad Aryal, was elected as the Speaker of the country’s Parliament today. President Ramchandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mr Aryal at a special ceremony held at the President’s office this afternoon.

The notice issued by the Parliament Secretariat stated that Aryal, who also serves as the Vice President of RSP, was elected unopposed during a meeting of the members of the House of Representatives, the lower house of the Federal Parliament.

The proposal for Aryal’s election was presented by RSP Chairman and Parliament member Rabi Lamichhane and was seconded by MPs Sobita Gautam, Dr. Swarnim Wagle, and Sunil Lamsal. Following the meeting, the senior-most member of the House of Representatives, Arjun Narsingh KC, officially announced Aryal’s election as Speaker.
