A massive election rally was held by the Congress in Naoboicha, Lakhimpur district where senior party leaders addressed voters from five constituencies.
The rally was attended by All India Congress Committee President Mallikarjun Kharge, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, senior leaders Bandhu Tirkey and Manoj Chauhan, APCC President Gaurav Gogoi, AJP President Lurinjyoti Gogoi, along with candidates from the five constituencies.
During the programme, the Congress announced five guarantees. According to the party’s commitment, if voted to power in Assam, the party has promised monthly cash transfer to women, along with an additional Rs 50,000 assistance to women willing to set up or expand a business, health insurance of ₹25 lakh for every family, justice in the Zubeen case within 100 days, permanent land pattas for 10 lakh indigenous people, and a monthly old-age pension of ₹1,250 for senior citizens.
The voting will be held on 9 April in Assam and the counting will be done on 4 May.
