The war in West Asia is escalating with strikes becoming increasingly frequent across the region. The Israel Defense Forces detected another round of Iranian missile fire headed towards Israel after a series of explosions were heard in the Israeli commercial hub of Tel Aviv following the launches. The forces urged the public to act in accordance with directives issued by the Home Front Command.

Israel has also been striking southern Lebanon in its battle against the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant organization. The Israeli Defence Forces said they completed an additional wave of strikes against terror targets in the Dahiyeh district of Beirut. The IDF said Iran’s threat extends far beyond its borders and that, together with the United States, efforts are underway to dismantle the network.

Rockets also targeted the Baghdad airport complex that hosts a military base and a US diplomatic facility. A shadowy group claiming to be part of the Tehran-backed Islamic Resistance in Iraq said it was behind the attack on the base.

Explosions were also heard near Erbil airport in Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region, where an attack forced a US-run oil field to shut production. The area also hosts US-led coalition troops. Iraqi Kurdish authorities said oil production at a field operated by US firm HKN Energy had been halted following the attack.

Meanwhile, several Ghanaian members of a United Nations peacekeeping mission were wounded when their base was hit in southern Lebanon, according to state media, though the source of the attack was not specified.

The United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence said Royal Navy Wildcat helicopters equipped with Martlet missiles have begun arriving in Cyprus. It added that four additional Typhoon aircraft are scheduled to arrive in Qatar overnight as part of ongoing operations in West Asia.
