China has criticised of presenting a Grammy Awards to the Dalai Lama, accusing cultural honours of being used for political purposes. The honour was announced at the 68th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles.

The reaction from Beijing comes despite the Dalai Lama’s long-standing advocacy of non-violence and dialogue, for which he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize, even as China continues to brand him a separatist.

Meanwhile, Members of the exiled Tibetan community in India’s Dharamsala celebrated after the Dalai Lama was awarded a Grammy for his spoken-word album “Meditations: The Reflections of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.”

The album features the Tibetan spiritual leader’s reflections set to Indian classical music, created in collaboration with sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan and his sons Ayaan Ali Bangash and Amaan Ali Bangash.
