German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on Thursday welcomed the United States President’s shift in position on Greenland and cautioned Europeans against hastily writing off the trans-Atlantic partnership.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Merz said Europeans, particularly Germans, place high value on the trust that underpins NATO.

He warned that any attempt to seize European territory by force is unacceptable, underscoring the importance of preserving security and cooperation within the alliance.
