Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff and President Donald Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner to discuss ending the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is working around the clock to move closer to a resolution and to ensure that all documents and steps are “realistic, effective, and reliable.”

He said the two sides discussed certain substantive details of the ongoing work and noted that they have good ideas that could contribute to a shared outcome and lasting peace.

Zelensky expressed hope that the understandings and ideas discussed between the two sides would prove useful.

He added that Rustem Umerov, head of the Ukrainian negotiating delegation and secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, held follow-up communications with Witkoff and Kushner.

The Ukrainian President shared a video post on X, writing, “It is important if we succeed in organizing what we discussed today with President Trump’s envoys. Some documents, as I see it, are nearly ready, and some documents are fully prepared. Of course, there is still work to be done on sensitive issues. But together with the American team, we understand how to put all of this in place. The weeks ahead may also be intensive. Thank you, America!”
