Meta Platforms has announced the addition of five new Indian languages for creators. At the ‘House of Instagram’ event in Mumbai, it was informed that Instagram and Facebook users will soon be able to translate their reels into Marathi, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil.

This upgrade is powered by AI-based automatic dubbing and lip-syncing technology, which generates translated audio that matches the creator’s original tone and emotion, ensuring the mouth movements align naturally with the new language.

Until now, this feature was available only in English, Hindi, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Meta is also enhancing its ‘Edits’ mobile video editing app by introducing new fonts for Indian languages. The Android version of the app will now include visually appealing fonts in Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese scripts, supporting Marathi, Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi.
