Hongkong Fire: 14 Killed, Several Injured; Rescue Operation Continues

At least 14 people are killed and several injured when a massive fire broke out in the high rise residencial appartment in Hongkong’s Northern Tai Po district today evening. The fire authorities are trying to control the situation.

The cause of the fire in the 32 storey building is yet to be known.

According the authorities, it is difficult to reach to the upper floors amid intense heat. It’s even tougher after the night fell.

The fire started from the Wang Fuk Court Complex, has 2,000 residential apartments in 8 blocks.

The fire service department said they don’t know how many people still there in the affected apartments.

Most people outside the apartment concerned about their near and dear as what must have happened to them.

The eight tower Wang Fuk Court was built in 1983 with 1984 apartments and one third of the residents are over the age of 65 according to a report.
