Bangladesh Warns Media Against Publishing Sheikh Hasina’s Statements

Bangladesh’s interim government has issued a warning to all print, electronic and online media outlets, directing them to refrain from reporting statements made by former prime minister Sheikh Hasina.

The directive cites concerns relating to national security and public order.

The government further cautioned that authorities are empowered to “remove or block content that threatens national integrity, security or public order.”

On Monday former Bangladesh Prime MinisterSheikh Hasina was sentenced to death by the tribunal court after found guilty of committing “crime against humanity” in the student uprising in 2024.
