Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney met Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on the sidelines of the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur on Monday.
The leaders discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in trade, education, and energy sectors.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed gratitude for Canada’s partnership, highlighting the strong performance of petrol and gas trade between the two countries.
Canadian PM Carney reciprocated, emphasizing Canada’s intent to deepen ties with Malaysia across various sectors, including energy, education, and aerospace.
Carney also commended Anwar’s commitment to peace and multilateralism, particularly in relation to ASEAN’s enlargement and efforts to resolve the Cambodia-Thailand border dispute.
