Jaismine Lamboria clinched gold at the World Boxing Championships by defeating Paris Olympics silver medalist Julia Szeremeta 4-1 in the 57kg final.

The 24-year-old, a Commonwealth Games medalist, overcame a slow start in the first round to bounce back and secure the top podium finish in Liverpool.

Minakshi Hooda became the second Indian boxer to win a gold medal at the 2025 World Boxing Championships, triumphing in the women’s 48kg final.

The 24-year-old defeated Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay, a bronze medalist at the Paris Olympics, with a 4-1 score. This victory was a rematch of the World Cup final held earlier this year in Astana, where Kyzaibay had emerged victorious.

Hooda’s win marks a significant achievement in her boxing career and for Indian boxing.

Adding to India’s success, Nupur Sheoran won silver in the women’s 80kg plus division, while Pooja Rani earned a bronze medal, highlighting a strong overall performance by Indian boxers at the event.
