Bihar flood affects 16 lakh, Rescue Efforts Ramp Up

Heavy rainfall continued to lash several parts of northern India on Monday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing multiple alerts across states.

Over 16 lakh people have been affected by floods in Bihar, where several rivers remain swollen following torrential rain. A total of 32 teams from the NDRF and SDRF are involved in ongoing rescue efforts.

In Delhi-NCR, light showers are expected till August 13, with moderate rain likely on August 14 and 17.

In Himachal Pradesh, an orange warning is in effect till Thursday, with the local weather office predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall at multiple locations. Fog blanketed Shimla, reducing visibility to just a few metres.

In the south, monsoon activity is expected to strengthen over Kerala, though not significantly. The state has recorded a 15% rainfall deficit since June 1, according to the MeT department.
