India levelled the Anderson-Tendulkar Test series 2-2 against England, winning the fifth and final Test match by 6 runs. Chasing a target of 376 runs, England were bowled out for 367 runs on the fifth day.
The match at Kennington Oval saw each side take the lead on numerous occasions. At one stage, England were cruising to victory courtesy of a fourth-wicket stand of 195 runs between Joe Root and Harry Brook.
Brook was dominant of the two with aggressive batting. He scored 111 runs (14×4, 2×6) before Akashdeep got his wicket.
Joe Root also scored his 39th Century, surpassing Kumara Sangakara of Sri Lanka. When Root got out, India was able to sense the victory.
After India took 9th wicket injured Chris Woakes came to bat one handed. Gut Atkinson tried and saved Woakes not to bat, but at the end Siraj bowled him India won by 6 runs. It was the narrowest win margin in terms of runs by India.
For India Mohammad Siraj had a match winning figure of 5/105, Prasidh Krishna 4/126 and Akashdeep 1-85.
