The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), for structured training of its personnel in emerging technologies. The partnership comes at a time when drones, artificial intelligence and cyber tools are changing the nature of threats to the country’s critical infrastructure.
CISF protects airports, nuclear power plants, metro systems, ports and other critical infrastructure and strategic installations, which now face threats in the aerial, cyber and information spaces. Under the MoU, NeGD will act as the Knowledge Partner of CISF. It will identify academic and technical institutions, Centres of Excellence and expert faculty to design and deliver training built around CISF’s operational requirements. NeGD has earlier conducted technology-intensive training programmes with premier institutions, including the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
The MoU is the latest addition to CISF’s technology training network. It follows soon after the twin MoUs signed with IIT Kanpur on National Engineer’s Day, which covered cyber security training and drone and anti-drone technology.
The MoU was signed at Electronics Niketan, MeitY, New Delhi, by Vinay Kajla, IG (Training & Recruitment), CISF, and Nand Kumarum, CEO, NeGD, in the presence of senior officers from both organisations. The CISF delegation included Aditya Jha, DIG/Recruitment; Biren Kumar Sethy, AIG/Training; and Savitoj Singh Gill, AIG, NCR Zone Headquarters. The NeGD delegation included Rajnish Kumar, COO; Puneet Kaur, DGM; and Dimpal Pandey, Manager.
Personnel will be trained in drone operations; anti-drone/counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) for detecting, tracking and neutralising hostile drones; artificial intelligence and autonomous systems; cyber security for critical infrastructure; and other emerging technologies.
