In view of the BRICS Summit-2026 being held at Bharat Mandapam from 11 to 13 September 2026 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has intensified its comprehensive civic preparations. Special sanitation, green beautification, maintenance, branding and decorative illumination are being undertaken at the Summit venue, VIP routes, major roads, markets and hotel areas where BRICS delegates will stay. This was informed today by Vice Chairperson, NDMC, Kuljeet Singh Chahal.
Chahal said that in line with Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’, India is moving forward on the global stage with a new identity and growing capabilities. Important international events such as the BRICS Summit further strengthen India’s global role.
Therefore, ensuring a clean, green, beautiful and world-class environment in New Delhi for welcoming foreign delegates is a priority for NDMC.
Chahal said that decorative electrical illumination is being arranged at 17 major roundabouts. These include Patel Chowk, Windsor Place, Mandi House, Shantipath-Kautilya, Shantipath-Panchsheel, Shantipath-Satya Marg, RML, Teen Murti, Q-Point, Claridges Hotel, Samrat Hotel, Ashoka Hotel, Methi, Lok Kalyan Metro Station, Man Singh, York Place and PM Roundabout.
To make the city more beaitify 11 major hotel premises will also be illuminated decoratively ahead of the event. These include Hotel Taj Palace, ITC Maurya, Ashoka Hotel, Samrat Hotel, The Leela Hotel, Taj Mansingh, Claridges Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, Le Meridien Hotel, The Imperial Hotel and one other identified hotel premises. Trees along the roads surrounding these hotels will also be decorated with illumination.
Ten major NDMC buildings and sites will also be illuminated decoratively. These include Palika Kendra, NDCC Phase-II, Convention Centre, Chandralok Building, Ashirwad Old Age Home, Charakha Museum, Central Park and Palika Bazaar area, AAV Mandir Marg, Lok Nayak Bhawan and Chanakya Bhawan.
In view of BRICS Summit-2026, NDMC has given a facelift to around 350 electrical panel boxes installed along roads by applying flex stickers, enhancing the appearance and attractiveness of major roads in New Delhi.
