Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that India and Mauritius are set to expand their energy partnership beyond conventional petroleum products to clean and sustainable fuels.
Puri said, the energy cooperation between the two countries will increasingly focus on future energy security and cleaner fuels, building on their existing partnership in petroleum products.
The Minister said Mauritius, a founding member of the Global Biofuels Alliance, has developed its National Biofuel Policy Framework with the Alliance’s support. He said, the framework will provide new opportunities for India and Mauritius to strengthen cooperation in clean and sustainable fuels.
Puri also highlighted India’s growing refining capacity and its position as a net exporter of refined petroleum products.
He said, India’s refining strength is enabling the country to play a larger role in ensuring the energy security of partner nations.
The Minister said, the India-Mauritius energy partnership demonstrates how India’s energy capabilities can contribute to the economic resilience and energy security of friendly countries, while creating new avenues for cooperation in sustainable
