The Shri Amarnath Yatra remained suspended from Jammu for the second consecutive day on Monday as authorities continued to withhold the movement of fresh batches of pilgrims due to adverse weather conditions and an unfavourable forecast.
The administration has advised pilgrims to remain at the designated Yatri camps until weather conditions improve.
Despite the suspension of the Jammu convoy, around 9,000 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave shrine by Sunday  evening, officials said.
However, no fresh Yatra convoy was allowed to proceed from Jammu to the twin base camps of Baltal and Nunwan (Pahalgam).
Yatra movement from both the Baltal and Pahalgam routes also remained suspended during the day due to inclement weather forecast
Sources said the suspension will continue until further orders from the government, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a three-day forecast of inclement weather across Jammu and Kashmir.
The authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation and will take a decision on the resumption of the pilgrimage after reviewing ground conditions and updated weather forecasts. Pilgrims have been advised to follow official advisories and avoid unnecessary travel until the Yatra resumes.
