CISF Seizes 3.2 kg Suspected Cannabis at Imphal Airport

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel detected approximately 3.220 kg of suspected cannabis (ganja) during random baggage screening at Imphal Airport. leading to the apprehension of a passenger.

The detection was made on 09 July 2026 at around 7:38 AM, when CISF personnel deployed at the Random X-BIS Screening Point diverted a departing passenger for random baggage screening based on profiling. The passenger was scheduled to travel from Imphal to Delhi on Air India Express Flight IX-1462.

During X-ray examination, suspicious images were observed in the passenger’s baggage, prompting a detailed physical examination. The baggage was opened in the presence of CISF personnel, representatives of Air India Express, officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Airport Police, and the Mobile Forensic Unit, (Imphal West).

The search resulted in the recovery of three black plastic packets containing a substance suspected to be cannabis (ganja), weighing approximately 3.220 kg. The suspected contraband was recovered in 03 different black plastic packets—A1 (1.080 kg), A2 (1.120 kg), and A3 (1.020 kg)—concealed inside the passenger’s baggage.

Following the recovery, the passenger, along with the suspected contraband and baggage, was handed over to Singjamei Police for further investigation and legal proceedings under the relevant provisions of law.
