Heavy Rainfall Lashes Mumbai City, Schools Closed

The India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread monsoon activity over several regions, issuing alerts from red to yellow as heavy rainfall continues to impact different parts of India.

Relentless monsoon rains continue to batter Mumbai and several parts of the western Indian state of Maharashtra, disrupting normal life as authorities step up precautionary measures amid forecasts of more heavy rainfall.

Schools and colleges in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune have been declared closed as a precaution, while incessant rainfall has led to waterlogging in low-lying areas, disrupted road traffic, and affected daily commuters across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The India Meteorological Department has forecast continued heavy to very heavy rainfall over parts of Maharashtra.

Authorities have advised people to remain cautious and avoid waterlogged and flood-prone areas, while emergency services remain on standby to respond to any situation.
