Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephone conversation with the Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian yesterday. During the talks, President Pezeshkian briefed Modi on the recent developments in West Asia and the way forward.
The Prime Minister welcomed the understanding reached and reiterated India’s consistent position that all issues must be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy.
Modi reiterated the need for continued efforts to ensure lasting peace and stability in the region and for safeguarding freedom of navigation and commerce.
Iranian President also appreciated Prime Minister Modi’s personal role in supporting peace, stability, and regional cooperation during their telephonic conversation.
According to the Embassy of Iran in India, during the conversation, President Pezeshkian expressed his satisfaction with the successful planning and hosting of the BRICS Energy Ministers’ Meeting in India.
He hoped that cooperation and engagement between Iran and India within multilateral frameworks such as BRICS would continue to expand.
Emphasising Iran’s commitment to strengthening and deepening relations with India, the Iranian President said that the relations between the two countries are founded on a long-standing historical legacy and mutual respect.
