FIFA World Cup 2026: Brazil to Face Japan for Last-16 Spot

Brazil will take on disciplined Japan tonight in Houston, Texas to get a spot in the FIFA World Cup Round of 16.

Brazil topped Group C with 7 points to book their place in the knockout stage.

The Selecao began with a 1-1 draw against Morocco before finding top form with a comfortable 3-0 win over Haiti. Then thay sealed first place with an entertaining victory over Scotland, thanks to a first-half brace from Vinícius Júnior and another goal from Matheus Cunha.

Japan has once again showed why they are one of the Asia’s strongest football nations. Japan has impressed throughout the competition with their organised style, quick counter-attacks and fearless performances.

The Samurai Blue finished unbeaten in Group F with five points. They drew 2-2 with the Netherlands, defeated Tunisia 4-0 and secured qualification with a 1-1 draw against Sweden.

If Japan maintains its organisation and takes its chances on the counter, it has every opportunity to cause a major upset.

In other encounters tonight are: Germany vs Paraguay, Netherlands vs Morocco.
