Rounak Chouhan’s Dearm Run Comes to an End; Srikanth Wins SF and Heart

Indian shuttler Rounak Chouhan’s dream run at the YONEX US Open 2026 came to an end in the semifinals at the hands of eighth seed Taiwanese, Su Li Yang.

Chouhan won his two qualifying round matches and then took down No.74 Sankar Subramanian before causing the upset of the tournament beating world No.6 Chou Tien Chen of Chinese Taipei 21-17 26-24.

The 19-year-old then held off Misha Zilberman 23-21 21-11 before eventually running out of steam in the semifinals against the No.46 Su, 21-17 21-19.

However, India’s Kidambi Srikanth making to the final beating fourth seed Yudai Okimoto of Japan in a close encounter 22-20 15-21 21-19.

At a crucial time in the third game, Srikanth got a point against his opponent. The Japanaese was not ready to leave the point to the Indian.

The video replay shoed Srikanth was right and the refree did not award it to the Japanese.

But Srikanth shown sportsmanship to leave that point to Okimoto and continued the play with more focused and placed him for the final clash with Taiwanese Su Li Yang.

In women’s singles, Line Christophersen made her first final since the Macau Open last August, beating Thailand Masters champion Devika Sihag with a come-from-behind effort.

The Dane lost the opening game and made her way past India’s Devika Sihag 15-21 21-11 21-15.
