Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Sunday unveiled a statue of Maharishi Sushruta at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious surgical institutions.
Minister Goyal said Maharishi Sushruta, revered as the “Father of Surgery”, transformed the science of surgery more than two-and-a-half millennia ago by documenting advanced surgical techniques in Kashi.
He said the statue on British soil stands as a tribute to India’s rich scientific heritage, timeless knowledge, and enduring contribution to the world.
