The Indian Air Force (IAF) launched a helicopter mission to support flood relief operations in the Pitapool area of Arunachal Pradesh amid challenging weather and terrain conditions.

The helicopter delivered 350 kg of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) relief material, including a rescue boat, and inducted NDRF personnel into the affected area. The mission enabled timely assistance to the local administration and residents impacted by the floods.

Heavy rainfall triggered flash floods and landslides across parts of Arunachal Pradesh, cutting off six districts in the northeastern region of the state. The flooding followed an intense spell of rain during the intervening night of June 23 and 24.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu said officials in all 28 districts have been directed to remain prepared to tackle monsoon-related challenges and respond swiftly to emergencies.

Meanwhile, neighbouring Assam has issued a high alert following the flash floods in Arunachal Pradesh, amid concerns over rising river levels and the possibility of downstream impacts.
