Lucknow Coaching Centre Fire: 14 Students Killed; President, PM Express Condolences

14 students died and several others injured after a massive fire blazed through a coaching centre operating in a 3-storey bulding in Lucknow’s Aliganj area on Monday.

The blaze reportedly erupted inside the institute building and spread rapidly, trapping people inside. It was a shopping complex with coaching, game zone and showrooms in it.

UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath visited the fire site and hospital and interacted with the victims. He also ordered a high-level probe into the fire incident.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed grief over the fire tragedy in a post on ‘X’. President said, “The news of the deaths of several people in the horrific fire accident that occurred in Lucknow is extremely sad. I express my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed anguish over the loss of lives in the tragedy, in a post on ‘X’

“Anguished by the loss of lives in a fire mishap in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. My condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest. Rescue operations are underway and authorities are providing all possible assistance. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000,” the post read.
