Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on June 20, where he will be joined by President Droupadi Murmu in a rare joint visit to the state.
The two leaders will visit Pahadpur village in Mayurbhanj and participate in celebrations marking 2 years of the Odisha Government. They will also offer prayers at the sacred Santhali Jahera and Ho Jahera groves.
This trip carries significant importance for the state.
They will visit the Skill Centre and Pahadpur School, highlighting efforts aimed at strengthening education, skill development and socio-economic empowerment in tribal and rural areas.
Later in the day, the President and the Prime Minister will participate in a major programme at Rairangpur marking 2 years of the Odisha government. The event, themed “Vikas ra Dhara, Odisha Sara”, will witness the inauguration and foundation stone laying of projects worth over ₹47,600 crore.
These projects span across key sectors including energy, industrial infrastructure, road connectivity, drinking water, health, education, tourism and irrigation with a focus on boosting development in the Tribal and Rural regions
Among the major projects for which foundation stones will be laid is the 600-megawatt Upper Indravati Pumped Storage Project. The Stage-II expansion of the IB Thermal Power Station, comprising two units of 660 megawatts each, will also be launched during the programme.
Another major project is the Bharat Coal Gasification and Chemicals Limited project at Lakhanpur in Jharsuguda district, aimed at cleaner utilisation of domestic coal resources.
A number of projects that will also be inaugurated include 300-bedded District Headquarters Hospital at Boudh, 24 Atal bus stands across Odisha, Nayagarh Town Bypass on NH-57 and sports complex and tribal research centre at Rairangpur.
The development package worth around ₹47,600 crore in the State will further give boost to public infrastructure development, enhance connectivity and energy security and create employment opportunities for the people in Odisha.
