Union Minister for Railways, Ashwini Vaishnaw, will flag off the Pune–Sainagar Shirdi Daily Express from Pune Railway Station on 17 June 2026, in the presence of distinguished guests.

This will be the first direct train service between Pune and Sainagar Shirdi, fulfilling a long-standing demand of devotees and tourists.

Pune is a major educational, information technology, and automobile hub in Maharashtra. The city is home to several prestigious institutions, research centers, and industrial zones such as the Hinjewadi IT Park and Chakan Auto Cluster, attracting students, professionals, and business travelers from across the country.

Pune also holds significant cultural and historical importance, with landmarks such as Shaniwar Wada and Aga Khan Palace, and its proximity to hill stations like Lonavala and Mahabaleshwar.

Located in Ahilyanagar district, Shirdi is one of India’s most sacred pilgrimage destinations as it is the resting place of Shri Sai Baba. Sainagar Shirdi Railway Station serves millions of devotees throughout the year who visit this holy shrine. The new direct connectivity from Pune will provide great convenience to pilgrims and further promote religious tourism in the region.

The Pune–Sainagar Shirdi Daily Express service will provide a safe, affordable, and comfortable travel option for passengers visiting the Sai Baba Temple, especially senior citizens, families, and group travelers. It will significantly reduce travel fatigue for elderly devotees.

The train will improve access to Pune’s educational and healthcare facilities for residents of Ahilyanagar and Shirdi. It will also boost the local economy around Shirdi through increased movement of tourists, benefiting hotels, taxi operators, and local vendors.

The train will provide seamless and faster connectivity for local passengers between the Pune–Daund line and the northbound Daund–Manmad line.

Major Halts for the said line are Daund Chord Cabin, Shrigonda, Ahilyanagar, Rahuri, Belapur etc.
