In a significant breakthrough CISF seized 4.411 kg Hasish (Charas) at the International Departure area of Terminal-3, IGI Airport, New Delhi on Tuesday night.
During routine surveillance and behavioural profiling by CIW team at the check-in area, a departing passenger bound for Amman via Sharjah was identified on the basis of suspicious behavioural indicators and was selected for random screening at X-BIS Gate No. 05. During screening of the passenger’s baggage, a suspicious image was observed on the X-BIS monitor, warranting detailed physical examination of the baggage.
Upon thorough checking, multiple packets suspected to contain narcotic/psychotropic substance were recovered concealed inside newly purchased clothing items packed in the baggage.
The matter was immediately escalated to the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Delhi Zone.
An NCB team arrived at the airport and conducted a field drug test of the recovered substance. The test yielded a positive result for Hashish (Charas), a psychotropic substance covered under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The recovered substance, comprising 20 packets to have a total weight of 4.411 kilograms.
Following confirmation, the NCB team completed all legal formalities and prepared a Seizure List-cum-Panchnama.
The NCB team subsequently departed from the airport along with the accused and seized exhibits for further proceedings at the NCB Delhi Zone Office.
