BSF is celebrating its Diamond Jubiliee Year. Established in the year 1965, BSF has a glorious history of valour, sacrifice and an unflinching commitment to the National Security. As part of the Diamond Jubilee Year celebrations of the BSF and in commemoration of 150 years of India’s National Song “Vande Mataram,” an all-women BSF mountaineering team is set to undertake a historic summit attempt of Mount Everest under “Mission Vande Mataram.”

The expedition is a landmark initiative of the Border Security Force aimed at promoting national pride, women  empowerment (Nari Shakti Vandan) and the spirit of adventure.

The mission assumes historic significance as it marks the first-ever  attempt by an all women BSF mountaineering expedition to scale Mount Everest. To add fervor of Nationalism to this feat, the mountaineers will render “Vande Mataram” from the summit of Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world.

The BSF Everest team comprises M/Ct Kouser Fatima from Ladakh, M/Ct Munmun Ghosh from West Bengal, M/Ct Rabeka Singh from Uttarakhand and M/Ct Tsering Chorol from Ladakh/Kargil. Representing diverse regions of the country and coming from humble backgrounds, the four mountaineers embody the spirit of courage, determination, discipline and dedication to the service of the Nation.

Their participation in this prestigious expedition also reflects the growing role and capabilities of women personnel of the Border Security Force in challenging operational and adventure activities.

The team has successfully completed the acclimatisation phase and is presently positioned at the South Col.

The final summit will start on 21 May, 2026 early morning, subject to favourable weather conditions.

Through Mission Vande Mataram, the Border Security Force seeks to convey the message of national integration, women empowerment, patriotic commitment and India’s rich cultural heritage, while inspiring the youth of the Nation towards excellence, resilience and service to the motherland.
