CONCOR’s Reefer Container Rake- ‘Aushadhi Express’ was Flagged Off by Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, General Manager, South Central Railway recently from Inland Container Depot (ICD), Sanatnagar along with Sanjay Swarup, Chairman & Managing Director of CONCOR (Container Corporation of India Limited). K. Padmaja, PCOM/SCR, Ity Pandey, PCCM/SCR, R. Gopalakrishnan, DRM, Secunderabad Division, Senior Railway, CONCOR & Maersk officials, logistics partners, and key stakeholders were also present during the occasion.

This refrigerated (Reefer) container branded as “Aushadhi Express,” is operated by CONCOR to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT). This service is especially designed for the safe transportation of lifesaving medicines and other temperature-sensitive cargo. The consignment carried in advanced Reefer containers equipped with diesel power packs to ensure uninterrupted cooling throughout the journey.

This reefer rake service marks a major step towards strengthening cold-chain connectivity and enhancing the efficiency of India’s pharmaceutical supply chain. The strategic partnership with Maersk Line, which is providing high-quality reefer containers, further reinforces ICD Sanathnagar’s coldchain logistics capabilities.

Hyderabad is one of India’s largest pharmaceutical hubs and often called the “Pharma Capital of India.” The key pharma areas in Hyderabad include Genome Valley (a major R&D hub located in Turkapally), the Jeedimetla Industrial Area, Patancheru (an industrial pharma zone), and Mucherla. The Hyderabad–JNPT corridor serves as a vital link between the industrial regions of Telangana and one of India’s busiest ports and helps in socio-economic growth of this region.

The introduction of dedicated Reefer rake services expected to reduce transit time, lower logistics costs, and improve supply chain reliability for exporters and domestic distributors. The deployment of the Reefer rake reflects the growing demand for reliable cold-chain solutions in India, driven by expanding pharmaceutical exports and quality preservation requirements. It is expected to create new opportunities for exporters, improve price realization, and reduce wastage. This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s vision under PM’s Gati Shakti promoting efficient, sustainable, and eco-friendly freight transportation systems.
