Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu today visited the Uday Aqua industry at Mulapalem village in Sompeta mandal of Srikakulam district, where projects are being implemented under the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).
During the visit, the Minister, along with local MLA Dr. Ashok and district officials, reviewed the activities being carried out at the aqua industry. He interacted with officials and stakeholders to understand the initiatives aimed at increasing fish production, improving income sources, and creating employment opportunities for local people.
Speaking on the occasion, Ram Mohan Naidu said efforts have begun to develop Srikakulam district into a major aqua hub in collaboration with MLA Dr. Ashok.
He stressed the need for the NFDB to take up more fisheries-related programmes in the district to fully utilise its long coastline and marine resources.
The Union Minister said that if the fisheries potential in Srikakulam is properly utilised, it could generate significant income and employment opportunities for fishermen and local youth.
He assured the fishing community that both the Central and State governments would extend full support for the development of the fisheries sector in the region.
